When in Rome

Image
We woke up and it was Rome day! The day we had been waiting for, for a whole month. Torture right? We had only just packed after spending the night in the pub with Doug and Harry and had a frantic last check for the passports. We got an uber to stansted, where we arrived 3 hours early with plenty of time to kill. I felt a bit ropey so cained various drugs of the legal and pain killing variety and went to spoons for a few drinks. Classic. Our flight got delayed for an hour, which saw a few cheeky g n t's consumed in the queue and then we were well on our way. The flight was painless and infact I am really starting to enjoy flying aside from the whole giant metal, heavy tube in sky thing. I did however, need a wee and went to the very front instead of the back of the plane. I decided instead of doing the walk of shame back to my designated toilet, just to wait it out and managed to get trapped whilst the air hostesses worked their way up the isle offering a range of beverages and re...

The Museum of Happiness

Image
I was lucky enough to score some tickets for the pop up event "The Happiness Museum" that was based in spitalfields market over the weekend. I finally managed to get James out of bed after not sleeping all night, after missing our 10am start and replacing it for 2.30pm and we turned up to see a mega queue and hopped in, assuming it must be for people who want to be happy. During the queue, James turned to me and said "I was surprised you wanted to come here, I was a little taken aback" I inquired why, to which he replied "... Well, it's interactive right? I'm surprised you would want to be in that situation" It was that point he realised I had no idea what I had got myself into. I had read happiness, museum, and colouring somewhere and bascially thought I knew what was going on and was down for it. I was wrong. Turns out my friend Claire and her boyfriend Rob had already arrived there and Claire was texting me about having to hug every...

Dismaland

Image
Outside. I’m drinking wine as we speak. Whether it is the stress that uni is upon me, or the fact I now need glasses for activities such as the cinema, I can’t help but feel like this wonderful trip out contributed to how miserable I feel. Dismaland was everything I wanted to be and more. We arrived to Weston super- mare around 3.30 pm and had a nice walk along the beach with a drink before arriving at the queue. It didn’t look bad and luckily for us, we had the glorious sun to stand and wait in. I had to take all my winter prep layers off it was that hot and I am not a girl that likes to be without a jumper, #unessicarysweatpatches anyone? As we got closer to the kiosk, we realised this wasn’t your normal queue and it wasn’t your normal kiosk. “LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, I KNOW YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING 4 TO 6 HOURS, BUT IF YOU COULD JUST PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CAN HAVE THE CORRECT CHANGE IT WOULD SAVE A LOT MORE TIME” bellowed a man with a megaphone. Shit. They are pissed off. I look...

Imperial War Museum

Image
If you want a naturally cheery day, don't go here. I am currently experiencing the remainder of emotions I had after I left the holocaust exhibition and I hope I am one anti depressant away from feeling relatively normal again. I have a mega interest in history and war, and war related objects such as tanks, planes and weapons. Despite being obviously born the wrong gender, I enjoyed my trip out today with 2 of my good friends Rosie and Johnny. We all got the double decker bus as a treat and went top, front row, naturally. There are some super dope battleship guns on your way in, which set a precedent that today was going to be top drawer and full of cool shit. We immediately felt like we needed to fill our tummies before embarking on a journey through history and went into the IWM cafe. The food looked amazing. On a "I haven't been employed since January" budget, I just had a flat white, but they had sandwiches like butter bean houmous, kale pesto and crumbled f...

The Wellcome Collection - The institute of Sexology

Image
The sexology exhibition is the first uk exhibition to bring together the pioneers of sexology. Spanning 150 years of sex research.  It is on until September at the Wellcome Collection with talks through out the year and is something i've wanted to sink my teeth into for a while. We arrived and immediately sat down for 2 cakes and a cup of tea. Jammy and i had an appetite for chocolate and learning. Upon entry, (no pun intended), i realised the exhibition had wasted no time getting right into it, when approaching our 3rd window, we came to discover what i thought were torture items were infact old fashioned sex toys. I'm going to go out here on a limb guys and say, i didn't know they even had sex toys back then. They were big, wooden and not something you would probably want to put up yourself. They weren't even in an inviting colour, like marshmallow pink. The second cool thing I loved were little fruit clams with sex figurines inside them. Yes, you read that righ...
