Ashurst Emerging Art Prize 2015

If you're into art and are in London, there is an exhibition worth going to see!International law firm Ashurst and Oaktree & Tiger Gallery have picked 25 short listed pieces.


 I am lucky enough to be close with a lovely and very talented lady who has been shortlisted for the art prize, called Jane Tudge.


A bit about the artist in question...
Jane left school and carried on to work as an archive assistant after realising her parents would never let her go to Art College.
She now has a first degree in Fine Art, along with a bursary and 4 prizes.
Her most recent work is a commissioned piece made for a touring exhibition organised by Salt Road in partnership with Hereford Council.
Jane predominantly works with beeswax because, in her words, of the contrary connotations of preservation and jeopardy. Her work is gaining recognition and is in national and international private collections and the Womens Library. 

A bit about the exhibition...

Her piece in the exhibition is one of her "Snowdrops Soothed Series" 
And frankly, who doesn't love a snowdrop.

Ashurst exhibition states that "Out of more than 600 artworks entered by over 270 artists, the short list includes artists from Europe, South America, Iran, China, South Africa, North and Central America who are working across sculpture, digital, painting, photography and many more styles."

Funnily enough, I wasn't able to write this post whilst I was actually feeling like poop. I was waking up with the classic chest crushing that comes with being depressed. When in Rome

We woke up and it was Rome day! The day we had been waiting for, for a whole month. Torture right? We had only just packed after spending the night in the pub with Doug and Harry and had a frantic last check for the passports. We got an uber to stansted, where we arrived 3 hours early with plenty of time to kill. I felt a bit ropey so cained various drugs of the legal and pain killing variety and went to spoons for a few drinks. Classic. Our flight got delayed for an hour, which saw a few cheeky g n t's consumed in the queue and then we were well on our way. The flight was painless and infact I am really starting to enjoy flying aside from the whole giant metal, heavy tube in sky thing. I did however, need a wee and went to the very front instead of the back of the plane. I can't cook #2 - Herby tomato and cheddar pasta bake.

I was in the mood for some hearty food after a weekend of naughty nibbling. I was surprised to see i had not gained but lost weight over my weekend break (even with all the cocktails) which inspired me to ignore the microwave and get stuck in. Some amount of pasta (I used a lot, that is a measurement) 1 can of co-op chopped tomatoes with oregano and garlic 2 heaped table spoons of tomato puree 30g of Half fat mature cheddar A sprinkle of parmesan, going to guess about 10g Quarter of a white onion I cooked the pasta in salted boiling water until it was aldente then drained and added chopped tomatoes. I fried some onions with the 1 cal light spray as i had left my coconut oil somewhere. Added the onions, puree and smooshed it all around then put it in a baking dish I lay some sliced cheese on the top and sprinkled the parmesan over it for crispiness. In the oven for 20 minutes on about 190. Add salt and pepper to taste after! I don't know how many syns are in this,
