When in Rome

Image
We woke up and it was Rome day! The day we had been waiting for, for a whole month. Torture right? We had only just packed after spending the night in the pub with Doug and Harry and had a frantic last check for the passports. We got an uber to stansted, where we arrived 3 hours early with plenty of time to kill. I felt a bit ropey so cained various drugs of the legal and pain killing variety and went to spoons for a few drinks. Classic. Our flight got delayed for an hour, which saw a few cheeky g n t's consumed in the queue and then we were well on our way. The flight was painless and infact I am really starting to enjoy flying aside from the whole giant metal, heavy tube in sky thing. I did however, need a wee and went to the very front instead of the back of the plane. I decided instead of doing the walk of shame back to my designated toilet, just to wait it out and managed to get trapped whilst the air hostesses worked their way up the isle offering a range of beverages and re...

The Museum of Happiness

Image
I was lucky enough to score some tickets for the pop up event "The Happiness Museum" that was based in spitalfields market over the weekend. I finally managed to get James out of bed after not sleeping all night, after missing our 10am start and replacing it for 2.30pm and we turned up to see a mega queue and hopped in, assuming it must be for people who want to be happy. During the queue, James turned to me and said "I was surprised you wanted to come here, I was a little taken aback" I inquired why, to which he replied "... Well, it's interactive right? I'm surprised you would want to be in that situation" It was that point he realised I had no idea what I had got myself into. I had read happiness, museum, and colouring somewhere and bascially thought I knew what was going on and was down for it. I was wrong. Turns out my friend Claire and her boyfriend Rob had already arrived there and Claire was texting me about having to hug every...

30 Day writing challenge #3 - 10 things that make you happy

Image
I'm grumpy today so hopefully this question will cheer me up. These are not in order. I do not prioritise my love for wine over my love for my family. Though my father and my sister may disagree and laugh. 1- Tea I love tea. It's a cliché but it's one for a reason. I drink about 5 cups a day. My boyfriend would argue I drink about 2 with the amount I leave to go cold, but whatever. I also bought a unicorn mug the other day which basically makes tea taste better. My parents would love it if I stopped cramming their cupboards full of different flavoured teas I never drink, and flasks. My dad also "banned" me from any more "giant mugs" because they take up too much room. I've only got 2. He asks if I'd like a "bucket of tea". Now I've moved out, I am yet to take over my cupboard with oversized drinking vessels but my time will come. 2-  Wine, Vodka, Alcohol... Sorry, not sorry. I love a nice glass of red wine, or sweet rose and...

A personal note.

I'm going to be honest about why i started this blog. I've medium touched on it but you know, just little snippets.  I don't like laying too much out on the internet, a) It's not smart and b) Where's the mystery, guys?! but this isn't that much of a secret. I suffer from depression and anxiety disorder. These 2 disorders have plagued my entire life and not without other disorders coming and going throughout growing up.  The point is, i first started this blog as an outlet but also with a shell. "Sophie is loving life and here's what you can do with yours etc." But, that's bullshit. Am i happy in all the things i have done and written about? Absolutely. Did it take me fucking 5 hours to make it out of bed to maybe do it? Quite possibly.  I switch between writing about things I have seen, done and love, to writing about things i have discovered about myself, life and my brain.  I've wondered how to merge these two ...

Brighton

Image
My other half had surprised me whilst I was on holiday in Cornwall, with a one day and night trip to Brighton. Double beach time? I was ecstatic. I met James from work at London bridge where we got our tickets to head to the seaside and settled down on a one hour train, in which we both ate leftover pizza and napped through. Which in my opinion is already a good start. During our journey on the train, James muttered "shit" under his breath, which is just what you want to hear on the way to your holidays. He had booked the hotel for the day after, and not the day we were actually in. Shit. I laughed at him because you know, men innit, and then we went in search of our hotel to see if we could rectify it. Brighton is very steep. Our hotel was mostly up a hill to the beach front which was too windy to get even close to. It's a lovely little pub with rooms above it and we were immediately welcomed by the owners. They didnt have a room for that night so they were kind ...

Countryside weekend.

Image
Log burners, pizza ovens and greenery stretched for miles is something very familiar to everyone in the Bromyard area! Luckily for James and I, we had his house to ourselves for the week to enjoy each others company and even more luckily for us, our friends company. Doug and Harry managed to somehow get the same time off from London and be in the same location all together in Hereford for longer than 2 hours. We had nailed friend time. After what sounds like a very stressful car journey fuelled with a lot of caffeine, they finally rocked up at 10,30 pm, to which i had fully taken onboard "hanger". James had made us a very delicious sausage casserole and dauphinoise potatoes which i managed to pretty much inhale. It was great to catch up with the guys and have them over in the country side. A very respectable 4 bottles of wine went down that evening (even when Harry and i were there!) and we all sat in the front room with the log fire burning. At 12am, like the old lady...

Rosie and Harry's Wedding in Cornwall.

Image
I am writing this listening to "May you never" as i think it will set the tone for this piece. I was lucky enough to be invited to 2 of my good friends wedding in my favourite place, Cornwall! Not only did i get to see my friends from Truro but i also got to see 2 of them get married to each other, which doesn't happen every day! Rosie picked me up from the train station, along with Phil who was on the same train as me, but we didn't know each other. I met Rosie's sister who's from Ireland, and we all went on a Sainsbury's trip which was a hilarious start to the weekend. Why hilarious? One word, Phil. Rosie had somehow given him the impression that we will be without nothing to eat for a long period of time and so his "go-to" was a fruit bowl. His fight or flight response was bananas, orange and apples. I asked him why he thought that was going to keep him going, and his response was that "He doesn't really eat enough fruit". W...
