Ashurst Emerging Art Prize 2015

Image
If you're into art and are in London, there is an exhibition worth going to see! International law firm Ashurst and Oaktree & Tiger Gallery have picked 25 short listed pieces. I am lucky enough to be close with a lovely and very talented lady who has been shortlisted for the art prize, called Jane Tudge. A bit about the artist in question... Jane left school and carried on to work as an archive assistant after realising her parents would never let her go to Art College. She now has a first degree in Fine Art, along with a bursary and 4 prizes. Her most recent work is a commissioned piece made for a touring exhibition organised by Salt Road in partnership with Hereford Council. Jane predominantly works with beeswax because, in her words, of the contrary connotations of preservation and jeopardy.  Her work is gaining recognition and is in national and international private collections and the Womens Library.  A bit about the exhibition... Her piece in the exhibition is one o

Wigmore castle

So today was the celebratory day of our one year anniversary, so we decided not to break tradition and go on a castle date. Classic. When we got there we found out where to park which was so, so close to the castle. Not. James spoke to a medium scary looking man at a village hall that looked like he was holding something heavy and bat like but he was happy to learn we were going to the castle before giving us a general direction. It was a little mission to get there but the weather was on our side. We walked down, then up, then through a graveyard, down a windy path, by some posh houses that I pretended could be mine one day for 5 pounds and then up a giant hill until we got to the front of the castle. We had a nice chat with an elderly man on the way who spoke about the castle like it was the greatest thing to exist. He was cute and reminded me of my grandad. We got there and had a look around, it was pretty big concidering it doesn't look like much from far away.

Rosie and Harry's Wedding in Cornwall.

I am writing this listening to "May you never" as i think it will set the tone for this piece. I was lucky enough to be invited to 2 of my good friends wedding in my favourite place, Cornwall! Not only did i get to see my friends from Truro but i also got to see 2 of them get married to each other, which doesn't happen every day! Rosie picked me up from the train station, along with Phil who was on the same train as me, but we didn't know each other. I met Rosie's sister who's from Ireland, and we all went on a Sainsbury's trip which was a hilarious start to the weekend. Why hilarious? One word, Phil. Rosie had somehow given him the impression that we will be without nothing to eat for a long period of time and so his "go-to" was a fruit bowl. His fight or flight response was bananas, orange and apples. I asked him why he thought that was going to keep him going, and his response was that "He doesn't really eat enough fruit". W

I was in the mood for some hearty food after a weekend of naughty nibbling. I was surprised to see i had not gained but lost weight over my weekend break (even with all the cocktails) which inspired me to ignore the microwave and get stuck in. Some amount of pasta (I used a lot, that is a measurement) 1 can of co-op chopped tomatoes with oregano and garlic 2 heaped table spoons of tomato puree 30g of Half fat mature cheddar A sprinkle of parmesan, going to guess about 10g Quarter of a white onion I cooked the pasta in salted boiling water until it was aldente then drained and added chopped tomatoes. I fried some onions with the 1 cal light spray as i had left my coconut oil somewhere. Added the onions, puree and smooshed it all around then put it in a baking dish I lay some sliced cheese on the top and sprinkled the parmesan over it for crispiness. In the oven for 20 minutes on about 190. Add salt and pepper to taste after! I don't know how many syns are in this,
